Events in the upcoming week...

Hi everyone,

Two really big Switchback Books events are happening
this upcoming Friday and Saturday...

On Friday March 28, our next poet Kathleen Rooney and
Editors Becca Klaver and Hanna Andrews are reading as
part of the Poetry Center of Chicago's Small Press
Showcase with poets from several other Chicago small
presses, including our favorites, dancing girl press
and Featherproof Books.

On Saturday March 29, we're celebrating the first-ever
SWAN (Support Women Artists Now) Day with a night of
readings, collaborations, music, and more.

Details for both events are below, and I do hope
you'll join us!

xoxo y'all,
Brandi

The event, taking place at the newly opened Medicine

and support the artist significance of the vibrant
female artistic community in the Chicago area.

Artists participating in the event include author and
poet Kathleen Rooney with poet and Absent editor Elisa
Gabbert, poet and Milk Magazine co-editor Lina Ramona
Vitkauskas, poet and musician Jen Watman, poet Erika
Mikkalo with artist Salem Collo-Justin, poet Nina
Corwin with musician Suzanne Osman, multidisciplinary
artist Jennifer Karmin with poet and editor of MoonLit
Lisa Janssen, a performance by Murakami Sound Machine
and readings by Switchback Books editors and poets
Brandi Homan, Becca Klaver and Hanna Andrews. After
the evening’s performances, DJ Melissa Grubbs will
help set the tone for mingling and general
merrymaking. Event organizers suggest you bring your
dancing shoes and BYOB.

SWAN DAY, conceived by The Fund for Women Artists, is
a new international holiday that celebrates women
artists. It will be an annual event taking place on
the last Saturday of Women’s History Month (March).
The first SWAN Day will take place on Saturday, March
29, 2008.

A $3 donation is requested and all proceeds will be
donated to The Fund for Women Artists.
